It was night on the streets of Siankay when Ellas finally decided to step out of his room. The normally busteling medieval city was even busier then normal, for it was the night of Ithial, or as the players called it: The Lunar Festival. Ellas walked out of the building, and strolled down the main street, letting his senses take in the happenings.
All the different smells came upon him as he walked along. Fresh cinnamon bread, fruit candies, even sweets like the classic carmel apple we're being displayed at booths on either side of the street. Vendors showed interested onlookers the powerful, one of a kind items; available only during the festival. All around him ran small children, no doubt either NPCs, or real children, who had no purpose in playing such a complex game, brought by their older siblings to experience the once-a-year only event.
Ellas smiled as he continued to walk, enjoying the rare peace that the festival brought. To a him, life in the game was usually one of battle and adventure. It seemed to him like he was always traveling, to either hone and improve his skills, or to see places that he hadn't gone too yet. It just seemed right to be able to relax for once.
"Ellas, you're back!" Hearing his name, the elementalist turned around to see Meena, a young NPC he had befriended a few months ago, jumping for joy.
"Meena," he said with a smile, causing the girl to run up up and hug him. "It's good to see you again." he took a step back to get a good look at her, "It looks like you've grown a little while I've been gone."
"Really?" she asked, surprise showing on her smiling her face.
"Yes, really."
The girl smiled even more as she walked next to him, reaching out a hand to pull on his pants leg.
"Come on, We've got to tell Ericho that you're back."
"If he's not getting into trouble again." Ellas chuckled, letting Meena lead him.
After a minute or two of walking, the young girl stopped; and after glancing around a few times, she finally spoke.
"I have something I need to tell you."
"Okay, what is it?" he said as he kneeled down, sensing as though this was very important to her.
She glanced around a few more times, then brought herself close to Ellas' ear, whispering something incredibly unexpected.
"Look out behind you."
With that, a young boy, laughing his head off, ran past the two, snatching the tan, pointed wizards hat that Ellas wore right off his head. A giggling Meena was quick to follow.
"Meena, Ericho," Ellas laughed as he gave chase, weaving through the crowds of people. "You two are going to be in so much trouble when I catch you.
As the three ran through the crowds, Ellas found it hard to keep up with the other two. For while their smaller bodies couldn't easily slip past the multitudes of people, he often found himself bumping into someone else, nearly knocking them over.
But as the crowds thinned, two figures sped past him, one clad in a green tunic and hat, and the other in what seemed like a suit of futuristic, orange battle armor.
Ellas stopped, and watched the two speed off into an alleyway. He just found the sight so out of place, that he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the pair. But the two quickly turned a corner, and disappeared from sight.
He stood there for a sec, for the two just seemed so familiar to him. But they quickly slipped from his mind as he ran off again to accomplish what he had originally been doing. Ellas had to get his hat back.
